Last year, Nigerian forces swept in and retook a series of towns that had been overrun by the extremist group Boko Haram in northeastern Adamawa state. But they did not fight alone: Local vigilantes joined in with makeshift weapons and helped the soldiers retake their hometowns. VOA's Chris Stein reports.
